Broyhill Walking Park, a 20 acre nature preserve that has a paved walking loop which winds around a beautiful lake surrounded by flowers and trees. We also enjoy the Lenoir Greenway, a 7.2 mile system of paved trails that allow for walking, biking, jogging, skating, and more on 25 beautiful acres.

Just up the mountain from Lenoir you’ll find many things to do in Boone NC. Boone is known as “the Heart of the High Country” and recently gained nationwide recognition when the Appalachian State Mountaineers won their third consecutive National Championship. If you’re in the area during football season, you should definitely try to catch an ASU game at Kidd-Brewer stadium. Even though it is a relatively small school when compared to the likes of UNC or NC State, the excitement and tenacity of the fans and the talent of the Mountaineer team is unparalleled by most North Carolina football programs.

The North Carolina Mountains provide an endless variety of outdoor activities to keep you entertained. Whether your interest is hiking, fishing, rafting and kayaking, rock climbing, or skiing, this area has something to offer everyone. About 300 miles of the world-famous Appalachian Trail runs through Western North Carolina, offering residents and visitors some of the best hiking opportunities in the nation, and people come from all over to enjoy the multitude of trout streams in the Blue Ridge and Appalachian Mountains. If you’re interested in skiing or snowboarding, Boone and Banner Elk offer four of the southeast’s best ski slopes; Appalachian Ski Mountain, Ski Hawksnest, Ski Beech, and Sugar Mountain Resort.
